What's new in at BG this week?

In News

We’ve a real mixed bag of goodies for you this week including beers from a brand new brewery and a couple of new brewers to BG

First up is Utopian Brewing from Devon. They have quietly gone about making a name for themselves in the last 12 months creating fantastic Lagers made from only the best British Ingredients. Brewed in a classical way but using their modern brewery (which is also used by our good friends at Yeastie Boys to brew all their UK beers) they’re making lagers that are interesting and of the highest quality but first and foremost easy to choose and enjoyable to drink. We’ve got 4 excellent examples for you, all brewed in either a German or Czech style. Lager is absolutely not a dirty word and these guys are proving it.

Hailing from the North East we are also featuring this week Alpha Delta Brewing, who have also been building a following in 2020. Not only with stunning beers (the main thing) but also some of the best-looking cans too! To give you a good chance to sample just what they’re about we’ve got a couple of IPA’s, a Pale Ale and a massive Imperial Blackcurrant & Blackberry Sour. You should try them all!

The final BG debut is a husband and wife team, Olly & Emma from Worthing Sussex, who have just started Merakai Brewing CO. Olly is the brains behind the brews having developed some of Arundel Brewery’s most successful beers. We were sent a sample of their first beer at the back end of last year and were really impressed, so made sure to get some of their next beer! I'm Your Biggest Fan is a 5.2% DDH Pale using Azzaca, Ekuanot and Amarillo, so expect plenty of joose!

Local (and not so local after their opening of a second brewing site down on London’s famous Bermondsey Beer Mile) heroes Three Hills Brewing have hit us up with 3 more of their BPAVK Impy stouts this week. Cherry Bakewell, Marshmallow Smor and a barrel aged version, Pomerol (French red wine) The guys have been knocking it out of the park recently with their big stouts and these are absolutely more of the same, but different ;)

Hackney are back in the fridge with High Hill, a juicy Pale, Long Range a fruited pale and Millions of Mojitos, a mint and lime sour. We’ve got Double-Barrelled Laundromat a smooth easy drinking Pale. Burnt Mill’s Great Bitter Falls, a proper ‘old school’ West Coast DIPA. Polly’s Brew Co Magnolia and Uncanny Valley. Cloudwater re-up of their Pale Ale and a couple of really interesting specials. Twelve Plus One is a DIPA brewed with Left Handed Giant and Fading (And Emerging), a Belgian style Ale brewed with Coffee. Also by Left Handed Giant we have Blender 3 a Sour IPA with Raspberry, Papaya and Vanilla, Slow Hands IPA and the return of Cheeseburger Cavalry IPA.

Last up is quite possibly the BG staff’s brewery of the year for 2020, The Beak Brewery. Strangers is a real juicy 5% IPA brewed with Mosaic, Sabro and Idaho-7 hops. And Queue, a super citrusy 5% session pale brewed with Azacca, Simcoe and Amarillo.
